Newly enacted county rules will impact jury selection

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Clinton County President Judge Craig P. Miller, after considering the Clinton County Commissioner’s newly enacted COVID-19 policies which place additional responsibilities on the public and county employees alike, stated “I’m in full agreement with the Commissioners and support this move. However, it will have an impact on our upcoming Jury Selection.”

Jury Selection is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 17 beginning at 8 a.m. Approximately 120 county residents are expected to appear in the large courtroom of the Clinton County Courthouse to be questioned and potentially chosen to sit on one of several trials that are scheduled for this trial term.

The new county policy, enacted in response to Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines, requires that all visitors to county buildings be masked while indoors, non-vaccinated county employees be masked when not in their private offices, and all staff to be masked when holding or attending meetings indoors, among others.

As a result all prospective jurors attending jury selection this Friday will be required to be masked.

Judge Miller said he apologizes for any inconvenience or discomfort this causes prospective jurors and the public alike but said “the court will follow the rules placed upon us by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Clinton County Commissioners in order to help stop the spread of this deadly new variant of the Corona Virus”.
