FARWELL – Bucktail Bucks football will return to action this Saturday afternoon at Canton (1-4) for a 1:30 p.m. kick-off.

Even though the Bucks (0-5) are coming off a loss against Nativity BVM, coach Bruce Ransom was very pleased on the Bucks performance.

Bucktail put 30 points on the scoreboard as senior Aaron Ransdorf was stopped on the one yard line as the final horn sounded. Ransdorf is a big impact on carrying the ball as well on kick-off and punt returner. Against Nativity Ransdorf ran for over 175 yards as well as 150 yards on kick returns. He returned the opening kick-off 85 yards.  If you go online to therecord-online.com, you can view the highlights of this football game.

Anthony Intallura has been giving Ransdorf some help in the backfield with his low running game. Coach Ransom and staff added some reverse field plays to catch the opponent off guard. Receivers like Mitch Intallura and Josh Knauff are using their height to go up and catch the ball.

This week we will see the return of sophomore Mike Casper who suffered a knee injury from week one. Coach Ransom said Casper will be worked back in at quarterback but slowly: “Senior Blake Gavlock has done a good job behind center. Gavlock did everything that we asked of him.” Coach Ransom also pointed out that Gavlock stepped up to the challenge. “We had a good week and a half of practice to work on our defense. Especially on stopping the outside run.”

Canton (1-4) is coming off a loss to Wyalusing 56-12. The only win for Canton was against Sayre 18-7. Canton only scored 31 total points in the four games that they lost. Common opponents that they face are Montgomery, Cowanesque Valley and North Penn. They will face them in the next three weeks. Canton does have some size on both sides of the ball.

But Sayre, a team the Bucks scrimmaged in August, had some size and the Bucks held their own.Coach Ransom will have the Bucks ready to play.
