Bucktail sweeps Lady Griffins; Poorman with no-no
FARWELL, PA – Monday saw a rare softball double-header at Bucktail High School and the host Lady Bucks made short work of visiting Sullivan County, sweeping the Griffins 17-0 in the opener and 18-3 in the second game. Game one was highlighted by a 3-inning no-hitter from Emma Poorman. She allowed just one base runner, a final inning walk.
The Bucktail bats were hot in both games, 10 in the three-inning opener, another 14 in the four-inning night-cap. The victories allowed Coach Mike Poorman to utilize many players as the team preps for the approaching post-season.
Julie Green paced the Bucktail offense, going 5-for-7 in all with a double and nine runs batted in. Makenzie Wagner had four hits between the two games, including two doubles; Wagner drove in five runs on the day and leads all District Four players with her 35 RBIs. RaiLeigh Isaacs slammed four hits with three RBIs. Poorman slammed a homerun in game two and drove in two runs in that contest. Haley Burrows had three hits on the day, including a double and triple and three RBIs in game two.
Jordan Burrows pitched a complete-game 2-hitter in game two, striking out five Griffins; she also had singles in each game and drove in a total of four runs. Lily Francis was 2-for-2 on the day with a double and three RBIs. Alexis Lowery had singles in each game and two runs batted in and Kayla Probert had a double and RBI in game two.
