Central Mountain regular season dual meet schedule comes to an end

The Central Mountain wrestling team checks out of the Clearfield High gym Monday after what turned out to be the team’s final regular season dual meet.

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – It turns out Central Mountain wrestling’s shortened regular season dual meet schedule has come to an end.

The Wildcats had been scheduled to conclude their regular season at a quadrangular event at Mifflin County this Saturday, but that event has been cancelled. Wildcat coach Biff Walizer indicated teams were exercising caution with the District 6 AAA individual tournament scheduled for Friday, Feb. 19.

Walizer said teams don’t want to risk a quarantine by competing within 10 days of the district tourney. The Wildcats finished with an 11-1 regular season record after their Monday night 40-24 win over Clearfield.

Walizer did note that there will be a District 6 team dual tournament to be held after the PIAA championships which are slated for Hershey on March 13. The top four team finishers at the district individual tournament will be eligible for the district team dual tournament, the semifinals scheduled for Tuesday, March 16 at the higher seeded teams. The dual championship will be held in Altoona on Saturday, March 20.
