Wildcats bounce back over Bison, 40-24
HYDE, PA – The Central Mountain wrestling team used an eight-bout run to turn away Clearfield by a 40-24 score Monday night.
The Wildcats, in a dual meet that started at 285 pounds, trailed 9-0 after the first two bouts. But they swept to wins in the next eight, including victories from all four of their freshmen in the starting lineup, Zane Cooper with a forfeit, Luke Simcox with a first period pin, Rocco Serafini with a 6-0 decision and Griffin Walizer with an action-packed fall.
Walizer was locked in the best bout of the night, at 152 pounds, against Bison Karson Kline (14-4). Kline moved in for what would have been a winning takedown in the final seconds when Walizer elevated him to his back for a fall with four seconds remaining.
Other Wildcat winners were Damien Galentine with a fall, Taylor Weaver with a major decision, Gino Serafini with a regular decision and Maddie Packer with a forfeit.
Central Mountain moved to 11-1 with the win, Clearfield falling to 14-4 with the loss. Central Mountain will next be in action Saturday morning at Mifflin County. It was to be a quadrangular with the host Huskies but word Monday was that Bellefonte and Tyrone will not be participating and Hollidaysburg will be stepping in as a replacement with a fourth team being sought.
