Wildcats wrestle in first-ever Big 7 Tourney Saturday; streaming on therecord-online

ALTOONA, PA – The longstanding Big 7 wrestling league will have its first-ever individual tournament starting Saturday morning in Altoona. It promises to be a three-way battle among Central Mountain, Bellefonte and State College.

Other teams participating include host Altoona, Hollidaysburg, Jersey Shore and Bald Eagle Area. Shikellamy is also a league member, but said Friday it will not be attending due to a COVID-19 issue.

The event will be held in the Altoona Fieldhouse, with no spectators allowed. The quarterfinals are to begin around 10:15 a.m., semifinals and first round of consolations at 11:30 a.m., consolation semifinals at 11:45 a.m. and the placing round, including title bouts, scheduled for 2 p.m.

Central Mountain is 7-0 on the season, Bellefonte 4-0 and State College 2-1.

Wrestling will be streamed, audio/video on therecord-online, with Tom Elling and John Lipez announcing.
