Bucktail’s Perry Wins National Junior High Title

TULSA, OK – Bucktail Junior High School eighth-grader Dalton Perry has added another big one to his ever-growing wrestling trophy case.

On Sunday he completed a 6-0 match run to win the title at the Tulsa Nationals, a three-day event featuring the top youth wrestlers in the United States.

Perry competed in the 117 pound bracket in the 15 u division in what is considered the “Super Bowl” of middle school individual tournaments. In going 6-0, he won his first match, ahead 13-4 before getting the fall; next he was winning 15-3 before he got the fall; in his third match he secured a major decision with a 15-5 win; in bout four he won with a regular decision 8-1.

In Perry’s fifth match he faced the top youth wrestler in the country and a familiar foe who recently moved to Pennsylvania. Perry mounted a late comeback to win 8-7. In the finals he faced yet another Pennsylvania wrestler he has faced in the past, losing in the state junior high finals two years ago; this time Perry got his revenge, a 2-1 victory for the national crown.

Afterwards, Dalton thanked his coaches with the Central Mountain program and M2 training center.
