COVID Cases Continue Surge within KCSD Attendance Area; Athletics Pushed Back another Week
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Keystone Central School District Superintendent Jacquelyn Martin Friday provided a weekly update on COVID-19 positive test cases within the school district attendance area and the numbers show a starkly negative trend.
Her update notes that all three counties in the attendance area are showing a substantial level of community spread. The district will remain on its remote learning status through the previously announced date of Dec. 1. Meanwhile the superintendent said the district is postponing all athletic activity until Dec. 2. (Nov. 20 is the PIAA-set date for the start of winter athletic practice across the state).

All three counties are currently registering “substantial” status for COVID-19 for a second straight week. KCSD will continue with a full remote learning model. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are scheduled as early dismissal days. Your principal will provide you with schedules for parent conferences. Thanksgiving Break is scheduled for Thursday, November 26 – Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Our team will continue to monitor the local data to determine if we can return to school on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Our goal is to return to school as soon as we possibly can.
Due to this alarming data, our district is postponing all athletic events until December 2, 2020. Please know, these decisions are very challenging because of the hardships that are placed on many families. Please support one another and work together so that we can get through this in the best possible way. Continue to follow all safety guidelines including proper hygiene, social distancing, mask wearing, avoiding/limiting group gatherings and travel.
We have been dealing with this virus for nine months now and we are all getting “covid-weary”.
We are appreciative and thankful for the patience and understanding of our community, as we work to prioritize the health and safety of our students, staff and their families. We hope that you all have a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving.
