Sugar Valley Rural Charter Reopens Tuesday as Planned

LOGANTON, PA – The Sugar Valley Rural Charter School will return to its regular instruction schedule on Tuesday, as per original schedule. The school was closed on Monday, part of a previously announced school cleaning.

The school disclosed on Saturday that a first staff member had tested positive for COVID-19. In a Monday update to the school community, SVRCS CEO Tracie Kennedy said the school had been in touch with the state Department of Health. Per state guidelines, she wrote, those with more than 15 minutes exposure and within six feet of the affected staff member would have to be contacted with further instructions; she said by Monday morning, that process had been completed.

The Kennedy message on the SVRCS website on Monday:

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Good morning, Over the weekend, we reached out to our SVRCS family to alert everyone to the presence of a case of COVID-19 within our school staff. We spent the weekend in communication with PA Dept. of Health officials and medical personnel. According to state guidelines, anyone who spent more than 15 minutes within 6 feet of this individual would need to be contacted with further instructions. As of this morning, anyone that falls within those guidelines has been notified. No additional notifications are required at this time. School will reopen tomorrow as planned. Please remember to monitor your child/children by checking for elevated temperature and/or other COVID symptoms every morning. Any students displaying symptoms should be kept home as a precaution. Please stay healthy and safe.

Tracie Kennedy, CEO
