Harold W. Olmstead, Jr. – Obituary
Harold W. Olmstead, Jr., 79, of Lock Haven, passed away Monday, October 5, 2020 at Susque-View Home, Lock Haven.
He was born on November 15, 1940, the son of the late Harold and Evelyn Olmstead.
Harold was a 1958 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On October 8, 1960, he married the former Betty J. Lachat, who survives. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this month.
Harold worked at Hammermill Paper Company for several years before his employment as a Gas Technician at the Lycoming Landfill until his retirement.
He loved camping with his wife and family, was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed watching NASCAR, rooting for Kyle Bush. Harold was also an accomplished softball player and had played for the Hammermill League under the nickname “Homer.”
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Tim (Kelly) Olmstead of Lock Haven, Christine (John) Olmstead-Oertel of New Jersey and Terry (Leslie) Olmstead of Jersey Shore; three sisters, Linda (John) Miller of Lock Haven, Bev (Ron) Karichner of Dillsburg and Judy Olmstead of Avis; thirteen grandchildren, Jason (Carrie Kleinfelter) Olmstead, Matthew (Tiffany) Olmstead, Scott Bowman, Jensyn (David) Modero, Christopher Oertel, Jonathan (Zuzana Hrehova) Oertel, Zachary Oertel, Colby Olmstead, Benson Olmstead, Rowman Olmstead, Sydney Olmstead, Cheyenne Myers, and Josiah Counsil; eleven great grandchildren: Gavin, Kiersyn and Rorrie Olmstead, Ayden and Avery Olmstead, Aidan, Gabriel, Roland and Moria Bowman and Mackenzie and Jackson Modero; and one great granddaughter expected.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 1 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High Street, Flemington, PA 17745 with Rev. Karl Runser officiating.
Friends and family will be received for a viewing on Wednesday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service.
We will be following CDC guidelines with facial coverings required and social distancing encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County SPCA.
