, 85, of W. Fourth St., Flemington, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Susque-View Home.

He was born on March 26, 1929 in Lock Haven, the son of the late George and Helen Ferer Thiel.

Tom served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1950 before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War.

On August 20, 1955 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Lock Haven, he married the former Barbara A. Pisano who survives.

Tom was employed by Piper Aircraft, retiring when they left town in 1984.

He was a member Senior Circle of Lock Haven and of Hand-In-Hand Hose Co. of Lock Haven for 54 years, joining in 1960.

Tom enjoyed working outside in his yard when he was able to do so. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching games on TV. He also was a fan of LHU Wrestling and had attended their matches in the past.

Tom was preceded in death by two sisters, Marguerite Stevenson and Faye Strump; and two brothers, George and Jack Thiel.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery Chapel at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Father Norman Imgrund officiating.

A viewing will be held from 10am until noon on Wednesday at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa 17745.
