Mary Ellen (Corcoran) Dremel – Obituary
Mary Ellen (Corcoran) Dremel, 88, of Hyner passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at her residence surrounded by the love of her family.
Born January 19, 1932 in Renovo she was the daughter of the late William Corcoran and Thelma Bartholomew Hull. Mary Ellen was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Renovo and the Holy Spirit Parish in Lock Haven where she sang in the choir.
She devoted her life to teaching elementary school children in first through third grades. She taught at several schools including; Sterling Run, Farwell, Renovo, and the Renovo Elementary School where she retired.
With a passion for travel, she loved her weekend trips to New York City and yearly beach trips to Ocean City, Maryland. Mary Ellen loved spending every Friday in the good company of her ‘lunch club’ ladies as well as singing in the Renovo Community Choir.
Mary Ellen is survived by her daughter, Mary F. Tripp of Renovo; two grandchildren, Gregg A. (Yazmin) Tripp of Alabama, and Brenna L. Tripp of Renovo; one great-grandchild, Ivanna M. Tripp; one sister, Patricia A. Strouse of Northumberland; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-father, Walter Hull; her son-in-law, Brent G. Tripp; and granddaughter, Ryanne G. Tripp.
A visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 5th St., in Renovo. A memorial service will directly follow the visitation at 1 p.m. with Martha Sykes officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bucktail Medical Center, the St. Joseph Church Window Fund, Holy Spirit Parish, or the Renovo Library.
