Bucktail Tennis Falls to Montgomery, 4-1

FARWELL – The Bucktail girls’ tennis team made a battle of it, but fell short in two heart-breaking, three-set tie-breakers, falling to Montgomery by a 4-1 score Wednesday.

The visiting Red Raiders held off strong Lady Buck challenges at number three singles, where Sammi Ulrich edged Bucktail’s Emma Poorman, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, and at number two doubles, where Montgomery’s Taylor McRae and Mallorie Myers came back from a 6-1 first set deficit to rally and down Bucktail’s Makenzie Wagner and Kori Prebble, 1-6, 7-4 TB, 10-5TB.

The lone Bucktail winner was Kayla Probert at two singles, by a 6-4, 6-0 score over Montgomery’s Jenna Waring.

The loss dropped Bucktail to 2-2 on the season, both losses to Montgomery. The Lady Bucks will host Cowanesque Valley on Friday and travel to Towanda on Saturday.
