Firemen Respond to Fire at UPMC Lock Haven Hospital
LOCK HAVEN – Firemen were able to limit damage in a Thursday night fire at UPMC Lock Haven Hospital.
A UPMC spokesman said the initial report was there were no injuries and patients were transferred as a precaution to the building’s south side, Haven Place.
He said maintenance work had been performed earlier in the day in a tunnel connecting the hospital’s boiler building to the main building, near the hospital’s emergency entrance.
Officials were reported investigating in the tunnel for a possible cause. There was no visible damage to the building’s exterior. Firemen were in service to the boiler building which is below ground level on the hospital’s north side.
A first alarm, followed by a second, brought a massive response The UPMC spokesman said more information would be available Friday morning.
