Farmers Market Up and Running in Downtown Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN – There was a steady flow of foot traffic Saturday morning as the City of Lock Haven renewed a longstanding tradition, a farmers market in the downtown.

The city has dubbed the enterprise “Market on Main” and it will be a Saturday fixture as part of the pedestrian mall through summer. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday.

As announced earlier, the Market on Main is focused on providing healthy, raw produce to citizens at an affordable price; part of a city effort to encourage shoppers to enjoy all that Lock Haven has to offer by shopping and dining at local businesses.

Market on Main Street is a credit/debit card operation only to start, but the city hopes to add SNAP/EBT benefits soon. The city also noted that for the safety and health of workers and shoppers, masks are required at the market. The Market on Main will be available every Saturday until September 26, and the city is encouraging more vendors to participate (raw produce only). Anyone interested in participating as a vendor or volunteer can contact the Director of Community Life, Kasey Campbell, at 570-893-5612.
