John Joseph McAndrew – Obituary
He was born on July 17, 1930 in Carbondale the son of the late Claver and Margaret McGinnis.
On February 5, 1955 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Lock Haven, he married the former Gloria I. “Renie” Caskey who preceded him in death on June 15, 2010.
John was a 1948 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
Following graduation, John enlisted in the United States Navy. He served from 1948 until his retirement in 1974, achieving the rank of Senior Chief Quarter Master.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Lock Haven.
John was an aspiring racecar driver and retired stock car driver. He enjoyed working around his house, especially tinkering with small engines and automobile mechanics.
He is survived by five sons, John (Deb) of New York, Timothy (Valerie) of Sweet Valley, Thomas (Donna) of Farrandsville, Joseph “Ed” (Katrina) of Lock Haven, and Robert of South Carolina; four daughters, Mary (Christopher) Zoky of Ohio, Patricia (Patrick) Glantz of Lamar, Katherine (Eric) Fetzer of Florida, and Kelly Inman of Lock Haven; 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 11a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 East Walnut St., Lock Haven with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating. Burial at St. Agnes Cemetery, Lock Haven will be held privately.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital through the funeral home.
