Grooming a Partnership and Power Up Those Pedals
Partnerships and Pedal Power
MACKEYVILLE – Thursday at the 42nd Annual Clinton County Fair it was time for the Horse Clean and Groom Contest where handlers and their horses are prepared presented in pristine condition for the judge’s expert eye. The process is as much test about proper presentation and the trust between the human and equine participants as well as proper grooming and care.
The four-legged contestants may vary in breed, size while the two-legged partner’s choice of attire and experience may also vary, the standards remain the same for all participants. Precise presentation and proper etiquette must be followed not only to demonstrate knowledge of what is expected, but to also allow the judge clear view of the animal’s lines and overall posture. The hours of training and practice invested will reveal the investment made by how the team of handler and horse make their presentation.
Whether the contestants are seasoned veterans of many such contests or a novice who may need some additional support and guidance from adult leaders or parents during the contest … everyone is thoroughly tested.
At about the same time across from the Horse Ring, perhaps the most anticipated event of the Clinton County Fair was also held Thursday evening … The Pedal Power Tractor Pull.
Children from age 3 and up participated in the is fan favorite with many returning contestants looking to improve to match their efforts from previous years.
Don’t let the smaller scale of the equipment fool you … it’s a tough task pulling that sled … though many of these experienced drivers made it appear as child’s play.
