Laurelly Fish Nursery Stocks Local Streams
On Saturday, April 18 volunteers showed up at the Laurelly Fork Fish Nursery in Chapman Township to help with the annual trout stocking into local streams. Fish stocking had been postponed a few weeks due the Coronavirus outbreak.
Despite cold temperatures and a snow covered ground, Volunteers loaded their trucks with tanks and hauled them to streams where they placed them in the water bucket by bucket. It’s not always an easy task getting to the stream and this year’s weather did not make it any easier, but the volunteers were successful.
A total of 3650 trout were stocked in local streams including Hyner, upper Paddy’s Run, Halls Run, Shintown, Drurys Run and County Line. The area counts on the Nursery to provide the fish to the local streams
The Nursery is a co-op between Western Clinton Sportsman’s Association and the PA Fish Commission.
