Weather Could Hamper Flemington Senior Housing Completion Date

FLEMINGTON – Recent rainy weather could push back the scheduled completion date for Flemington’s Susquehannock Heights, an elderly housing complex under construction off Linden Street near the borough line with Lock Haven.

Project overseer Mike Fisher from SEDA-COG told therecord-online this week that the damp weather has put the construction schedule one or two months behind and if the structure’s concrete floor cannot soon be poured, the completion date will be delayed. Best case scenario, Fisher said, is August of this year; if not then, likely in October.

He said there will be a public information program begun for prospective tenants some three months before the completion and a public information meeting will be part of the process. The 32-unit senior housing complex is to provide “affordable housing” for area elderly, as Fisher had noted at the groundbreaking held in August of last year.

Project developers had earlier announced the new units will feature community, craft, and exercise rooms, a library, central laundry, computer café, and outside sitting areas. The monthly rent will be $550 for a one-bedroom apartment and $660 for a two-bedroom apartment for senior citizens ages 62 and older. This includes all utilities except telephone, TV, and internet service.
