Wildcats Fall Short at Shikellamy

SUNBURY The Central Mountain boys and girls track and field teams traveled to Shikellamy for their second meet of the season on Tuesday and were met by a strong opponent. Both squads fell by identical scores of 118-32, but not without notable performances and promising individual results.

The Central Mountain girls team knew they’d be facing a challenge against a well-rounded Shikellamy squad and were ultimately edged out 118-32. Despite the setback, several Wildcats stood out in both track and field events.

Senior Jaslyn Anderson continued her dominance in the throws, earning first place in discus and second in shot put. Ellen Banfill placed second in the javelin, with freshman Alexandra Castillo securing third.

On the track, junior Grace Keohane finished second in the 800 meters, while Emma Wolfe added points with a second-place finish in the 3200 and third in the 1600. Sarah Lavallee followed Wolfe in the 3200 for third.

Senior Macy Plowman represented well in the sprints, and Macia Owens took third in the 100-meter hurdles. Lillian Downing placed second in the high jump, and Emily Brinker earned third in pole vault. Sophia Hoy also secured a third-place finish in the long jump.

The Central Mountain boys team also ran into a deep and talented Shikellamy squad and fell by the same 118-32 score.

Senior Sam Wible once again delivered a strong showing, winning the 400 meters. Brody Rhine and Wyatt Heeman followed in second and third, respectively, sweeping the event for the Wildcats. Damien Winner turned in another steady performance, placing second in both the 1600 and 3200 meters.

The 4×400-meter relay team claimed a first-place finish, and Jonathan Nyman earned third in the 300-meter hurdles. In the field events, Cooper Bottorf took first in discus and third in shot put, while Jonathan Hughes placed second in javelin.

Isaiah Brinker and Bryce Warren each chipped in with third-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump, respectively.
