LOCK HAVEN – Mountainside Electric of Middleburg on Tuesday of this week began reconfiguring the globes and ballast on the city’s jinxed downtown street lights. The 14-year-old lights have had a short bulb life, the problem blamed on the original ballast. The new fixtures on the light standards from E. Main St. to Bellefonte Avenue have come at a cost of $219,000, the installation contract at $14,000. The contractor has until Aug. 22 to complete the conversion from 5-globe lights to 3-globe lights. The new bulbs are LED, expected to have a longer life. Record photo – Jeannine Lipez
