Lady Bucks Power Past Sugar Valley Behind Wagner’s Two-Homer Game
LOGANTON – The Bucktail Lady Bucks continued their strong play Wednesday evening, rolling to a 19-1 win over Sugar Valley in a five-inning road contest.
Kendall Wagner followed up a big game Monday with another standout performance, blasting two home runs to lead the Lady Bucks’ offensive attack. Bucktail jumped ahead early with five runs in the first inning and added to the lead in every frame, ending the game under the mercy rule.
The Lady Bucks collected 12 hits and didn’t commit an error in the field. Sugar Valley managed one run on one hit and was charged with two errors.
Eva Sockman had a strong night with three hits for Bucktail, including a pair of doubles. Angel Kmetz added two hits, one of which was an inside-the-park home run. Rebekah Conway chipped in two hits with a double, while Lola English and Matti Mason each added doubles. Riley Salizzoni also had a hit in the win.
In the circle, Carrie Ditty was in control throughout. She gave up just one hit and one walk while striking out eight over five innings.
Sugar Valley’s hit came off the bat of Olivia Johnson. Hattie Cinnamon battled in the circle for the Lady Phoenix and struck out three. Jaelynn Smith had a solid game defensively in left field, making several catches.
Bucktail returns home Thursday to host Oswayo Valley, while Sugar Valley will welcome Montgomery.
