Francis M. Pompili, Sr. – Obituary
Francis M. Pompili, Sr., 93, of Renovo, died Friday, October 25, 2019 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.
He was born on January 6, 1926 in Renovo and was the son of the late Luigi and Theresa (Poleto) Pompili.
On June 12, 1951 Francis married the late Anita M. (Perri) and they celebrated 60 years of marriage together until her death on March 4, 2012.
Francis worked for Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail and retired after 26 ½ combined years as a car repairman in 1991. He also worked for 14 years with Operating engineers, Pittsburg as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Renovo and the Sons of Italy, Renovo. Francis enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing and was a huge Yankees and Penn State fan. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Francis is survived by four sons and one daughter-in-law; Francis M. Jr of Farwell, Lewis Pompili of Renovo, Dr. Steven Pompili of Washington, DC and Thomas and Margo Pompili of Pittsburg, one daughter and son-in-law; Dr. Theresa M. and Steven Sander of Cogan Station, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Francis was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law; Cindy Pompili, one brother; William Pompili and two sisters; Betty Lisanty and Helen Rooney.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church building fund or the window fund, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo, PA 17764.
A public viewing will be held from 12:00 – 12:45, Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo followed by a mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 1:00 with the Reverend Joseph T. Orr officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner.
