Probst All-Time Clinton County Passing Leader
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain senior Zane Probst sees his short-term future in baseball, the Wildcat multi-sport standout verbally committing earlier this year to a baseball scholarship at Seton Hall.
But Probst has also made his mark well beyond the pitcher’s mound at Mill Hall Community Park. Up the road at nearby Malinak Stadium last Friday night, the 6-3, 190 pound Probst put his name in the football record book, becoming Clinton County’s all-time passing yardage leader.
Probst put up 178 yards (and two touchdown passes) as part of the Wildcats’ 35-28 overtime win over Mifflinburg. That output put him at 3,473 yards, moving past former number one Shawn Weaver and his 3,383 yards at the former Bald Eagle-Nittany High School. Probst earlier this season had eclipsed then-number two Phil Mann, number three Sean Hanna and number four Kerry Shafer.
Probst last year had surpassed the Wildcat one-season mark set by Mann in 2000 with 1,365 yards, Probst finishing his junior year with 1,722. The Wildcat senior has 1,661 yards so far this year, his final game set for this Friday night at Jersey Shore.
Probst has received feelers from multiple colleges about football but a family member said his primary goal remains baseball.
The All-Time List:
1) Zane Probst 3,473
2) Shawn Weaver 3,383
3) Phil Mann 3,151
4) Sean Hanna 2,878
5) Kerry Shafer 2,823
