Geisinger Lock Haven Groundbreaking Set for Oct. 31
LOCK HAVEN – Ground will be broken on Thursday, Oct. 31 for the new Geisinger Medical Clinic to be built on the old Lock Haven High School football practice field at Spring and Fourth streets in the city.
A Geisinger spokesman confirmed the groundbreaking date to therecord-online and said additional information on the new facility will be forthcoming at that time.
Geisinger had announced plans in March of this year for the new 2-story structure to offer urgent care. The Danville-based health care provider said at that time services will also include adult and pediatric primary care offices and imaging and lab services. The new facility, per the March announcement, is also to house physical and occupational therapy, as well as a specialty clinic with dermatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, surgery and women’s health services.
Geisinger late last year had completed its $1.93 million purchase of several connected third ward Lock Haven holdings as part of its plan to build the new health services clinic.
Geisinger in December purchased two plots, one owned by Town Homes at Susquehanna Square LP for $480,000, the other from Shaner Investments Lock Haven Hotel LP for $700,000. Those purchases follow a closing earlier last year in which Geisinger paid Patrick and Pamela Bigatel of Seattle $750,000 for a parcel containing five town houses abutting W. Fourth and Spring streets. They were subsequently torn down to make way for the new Geisinger facility.
