George McGuire – Obituary

George McGuire, 86, of Cross Fork passed away September 20, 2019 at Bucktail Medical Center in South Renovo where he was a resident.

Born August 20, 1933, he was the son of the late George and Lois (Purdy) McGuire. After attending high school, he served overseas in the Army during the Korean War in the Engineer Corps. He later retired from Consolidated Natural Gas Company and was a member of the Kettle Creek Fire Company.

On December 23, 1960 he married Irene Garcone and the two shared over 58 years of marriage together until Irene’s passing on March 29, 2019.

He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

George is survived by two daughters and two sons, Cindy Greeley (Bart) of Coudersport, Mike Walden (Deb) of Austin, Jenny Gipe of Renovo, and George McGuire of Austin; 9 grandchildren, David Greeley, Crystal Fowler, Candice Walden, Chelsey Dynda, Danielle Cross, Dale Gipe, Nicole Burkart, George Ryan McGuire, and Katie McGuire; 17 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Leona McCurry, Judy Gunkle, Joan Proctor, Jeanine Fraiser, and Phyllis McGuire; and one brother, Jim McGuire. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, George was preceded in death by one brother, Irving McGuire; three sisters, Ladora Spence, Lois (Sandy) Rooney, and Leah Proctor; and one grandson, Kevin Greeley.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family with arrangements being made by Maxwell Funeral Home, in Renovo.
