CM Volleyball Topples West Branch in Tourney Final, 2-1

ALLPORT – The Lady Wildcat volleyball program took a huge step in capturing the West Branch Tournament championship on Saturday.

West Branch is a perennial volleyball powerhouse and this win can be used as a credible measurement in how the Lady ‘Cats are improving.

On the day, CM was 12-1 in the tournament with their only loss coming at the hands of the hosts in game 2 of the finals.

The Lady Wildcats got past West Branch 25-22 in the first game of the finals then the Lady Warriors rebounded with a 26-24 effort in game 2 to force the 15 point tie-breaker.

In that last game, Central Mountain prevailed edging West Branch 15-13 for the title.

“The girls played well all day today in winning the tournament,” said CM head coach Scott Garman, “It was a total team effort and our defense highlighted the day.”

Emily Bartlet led the Lady ‘Cats with 4 aces in the finals while Abby Brinker and Loni Duck had 3 aces each. Duck also had 8 kills with Kyleigh McDermit recording 6 kills. Felicia Baney and McKenzie Hanna had 5 kills each and Evie Rembold with 3 kills.

Next up for the Lady ‘Cats is a road game at Bellefonte on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019.
