Peiffer Recognized as ‘Friend of Fair,’ Haili Frank New Queen


MACKEYVILLE – The 47th annual Clinton County Fair is up and running and Sunday evening was a special time. This year’s Friend of the Fair was recognized and a new fair queen crowned.

Long-time Clinton County Fair volunteer James “Ed” Peiffer, above, fourth from left, was honored as the 2019 ‘Friend of the Fair’ by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture during opening ceremonies. Currently serving as vice president for the Fair organization, Peiffer received a standing ovation when the recognition was announced. He’s been a volunteer at the fairgrounds for the past 39 years and currently serves as vice president of the Fair Board. He’s also served as president and assistant treasurer and has been a key volunteer along with others in making various improvements at the Fairgrounds. Peiffer received congratulatory citations from a number of people, including, from left, 12th District U.S. Congressman Fred Keller; Deb Rudy, representing 25th District State Senator Joe Scarnati; Fair Board president Phil Courter; Michelle McCain, representing 76th District State Representative Stephanie Borowicz; and Clinton County Commissioners Jeff Snyder, Paul Conklin and Pete Smeltz.

Later Sunday evening, the fair’s 2018 queen, McCartney Register, crowned the 2019 Clinton County Fair Queen, Haili Frank. The county fair runs through Saturday, Aug. 3.
