Clinton 8-10 All Stars Edged Again by Mifflinburg, 8-7
LOCK HAVEN – The Clinton 8-10 All-Stars came up short with Mifflinburg pulling off another one run victory, this time with an 8-7 effort.
Mifflinburg held a 6-0 lead after three innings of play when Clinton began to battle back.
Aubrey Eiler led off with a single in the top of the fourth inning followed by Cheyenne Weaver reaching base on a Mifflinburg error. Then with 2 outs on the board, Kassie Williams and Carrie Ditty would work back-to-back walks, Camdyn Weaver would be hit by a pitch and Eva Sockman hit a single to put up 4 runs for Clinton, though they still trailed 6-4.
Mifflinburg responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 7-4.
Clinton continued to battle in the top of the fifth inning with Reagan Weaver and Eiler earning a base on balls to get things rolling. Cheyenne Weaver stepped in for a base hit Then with one out, Lilly Germello singled to plate Eiler and Weaver to knot the score at 7-7.
Then the crucial at bat for Mifflinburg came in the bottom of the fifth inning when they used a dropped third strike and a base runner stealing home to score the final run of the game that sealed the win.
Mifflinburg would then retire the Clinton side in order in the top of the sixth inning to end the game, 8-7.
Sockman led the Clinton batters with 2 hits and 2 RBI. Germellow had a hit, 2 RBI with Eiler, Cheyenne Weaver, also recording hits for Clinton.
Raegan Weaver and Eiler split duty in the circle for Clinton combining to allow 7 hits, 7 walks while striking out 5 Mifflinburg batters.
Clinton closes out their postseason play with a record of 5-2.
