Clinton 8-10 All-Stars Bounce Back with 16-6 Win over Towanda
LOCK HAVEN – The Clinton 8-10 All-Stars rebounded today with a convincing 16-6 win over Towanda to stay alive in the Section 3 Little League Softball tournament.
It was big hits and patience at the plate that earned Clinton the decisive win with a spectacular punctuation mark at the end.
Clinton was leading Towanda 12-6 when Eva Sockman came to the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning with bases loaded. Sockman drove the ball deep and raced around the bases with her teammates scoring in front of her for an in-the-park grand slam to end the game, 16-6 under the ten-run rule that will advance Clinton to the championship round and a shot at redemption against Mifflinburg.
Reagan Weaver also had a solo in-the-park homer and a base hit for Clinton. Cheyenne Weaver had two singles in the game and Elise McKean had a double for Clinton. Clinton also took advantage of 13 walks and 4 Towanda errors.
Reagan Weaver went the distance in the circle for Clinton giving up 4 hits, 10 walks, striking out 7 Towanda batters.
The win earned a rematch with Mifflinburg who edged Clinton, 2-1 in the winner’s bracket final, is slated for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at the Clinton Field is located at 32 Myrtle St, Lock Haven.
