South Rolls Up 10-0 Win over Clinton for D12 Title
LOCK HAVEN – The Clinton Softball Major All-Stars rebounded from their first loss to South on Monday with a big win over East Lycoming to earn a shot at redemption. That effort would come up short as South used 5 hits, 4 walks and 7 Clinton errors to roll up a four-inning 10-0 win for the District 12 Little League Softball title.
Clinton was the visiting team for the game by virtue pod the coin toss and leadoff batter, Ava Doyle did her best to get things started off right when she stroked out a base hit that the South shortstop couldn’t snare. Doyle would then steal second base but the Clinton threat would end there.
The next opportunity for Clinton came when Jacey Tripp collected a single in the top of the fourth inning, though, the South defense would stiffen and deny Clinton any runs.
Tripp and Brynn Swanger shared duty in the circle with Tripp allowing 1 hit, 2 walks and struck out 1 South batter in the first two innings. Swanger yielded 4 hits and 2 walks in the final 2 innings.
The loss takes Clinton to a 2-2 record in the tournament to end their 2019 season.
