Bucktail Proud: Lady Bucks Softball Saluted for District Crown

FARWELL – Family and friends from all over western Clinton County turned out Wednesday morning for a special school assembly honoring the District 4 Class A champions Bucktail Lady Bucks.

Bucktail athletic director Jack Hanobic summoned the 14 team members to the stage one at a time in the Dale Florey gymnasium as head coach Mike Poorman presented them with special certificates for their accomplishments. Each of the players was wearing the district championship medal they won last Friday in the squad’s come-from-behind win over Montgomery. The district title was the program’s first, as was this Monday’s appearance in the PIAA tournament. The team also shared the Mid-Penn Conference crown as it finished with a 19-3 record.

The team developed a huge following during the season and red-clad fans greatly outnumbered the opposition at all three Bucktail playoff games.
