RENOVO – An appreciative crowd was on hand Saturday morning for the formal dedication of the Town Clock in Renovo. The 12-foot high, four-sided time piece — funded through many donations following the town’s 150th anniversary in 2016 – is situated in front of the PA State Flaming Foliage Visitor Information Center on Huron Avenue.

Renovo Mayor Tom Tarantella, Jr., spoke of the clock being a focal point to bring the town together. He described the various characteristics of the clock, and recognized those who played a part in bringing the project to fruition.

Guest speaker, Clinton County President Judge Craig Miller — a proud Renovo native — highlighted many positive moments in the area’s history, including when the railroad first arrived in 1862, the Borough’s incorporation in 1866, stops into town by then President Roosevelt and King George of England, the first Flaming Foliage Festival in 1949, the development over the years of the Bucktail schools and Bucktail Medical Center, and even important sports moments such as last Friday’s extra-inning 9-8 win by the Lady Bucks softball team over Galeton to get them into the District 4 Class A final. Judge Miller said, “Good moments happen here because of the great people here,” noting that the clock will mark many more good moments in Renovo’s future.

Mayor Tarantella and his parents, Tom Sr. and Renovo Borough Council president Ann Tarantella, unveiled a plaque at the base of the clock that lists donors to the Town Clock project, after which those in attendance enjoyed punch and cake at the Information Center.

Aaron Kelley served as master of ceremonies. Erica Dorman and Charlize Kepler sang the National Anthem, and Martha Skyes, temporary pastor at the First United Presbyterian Church, offered the invocation.
