LHU Softball NCAA-Bound; Will Face West Liberty
INDIANAPOLIS – The Lock Haven University softball team is headed back to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season as the Bald Eagles were selected Monday for the 2019 NCAA Division II Softball Championships. Lock Haven was tabbed as the No. 8 seed in the Atlantic Region and will travel to face the hosts, West Liberty, on Thursday in the Atlantic 1 Regional.
The Bald Eagles make their 14th NCAA tournament appearance. LHU has claimed two NCAA DII national titles (2006 & ’09) in their previous appearances and also have two runner-up finishes and one fourth-place finish. LHU is 48-24 all-time in 72 games for a NCAA tournament win percentage of .667.
The Atlantic 1 Regional is set for Thursday, May 9 – Saturday, May 11.
No. 8 seed Lock Haven will take on No. 1 seed West Liberty on Thursday (May 9) at 12 p.m. following that game No. 4 seed Shepherd takes on No. 5 seed Concord.
In all 64 teams were selected for the 2019 NCAA DII Softball Tournament. Four teams will participate at each of the 16 regional sites in double-elimination tournaments, held May 9-11. Winners will advance to the super regionals, slated for May 16-17. The finals will be held May 23-27 at the Regency Athletic Complex in Denver and will be hosted by Metropolitan State University of Denver.
