Pennsylvania Deer Season to Open on Saturday after Thanksgiving
HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Game Commission Board voted 5-3 on Tuesday to move the start of deer season to the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. The change, the first since 1963, means this year’s deer season will open on Saturday, Nov. 30.
Proponents said the switch was made to offer more opportunities for hunters and to adjust to shifting hunter demographics. That prospective change had first been announced in January. The Tuesday vote made it official. It means deer season will now include three Saturdays as part of the 13-day season.
