Ransom Recognized on 25 Years as Bucktail Football Coach

NORTH BEND – Longtime Bucktail High School football coach Bruce Ransom was surprised Sunday night with a retirement party at the Chapman Township Fire Hall.

Multiple ex-Buck players and assistant coaches past and present were in attendance as Bucktail Principal Betsy Dickey recognized Ransom for his 25 years directing the Buck program. Ransom announced his retirement in December to devote more time to his family.

While Bucktail had to deal with small roster numbers as the smallest school in Pennsylvania fielding a football team, Ransom’s teams were noted for their competitiveness. His 2017 squad became the first Buck team to qualify for a District 4 playoff berth. He was the All-American Conference coach of the year in 2013.
