RENOVO – Chuck Dillon, field representative for state Sen. Joe Scarnati (R-Brockway) was a guest of the Renovo Community Trade Association meeting Monday afternoon at the Sportsman’s Hotel and Restaurant.

Dillon works in Scarnati’s Wellsboro office and said Scarnati welcomes hearing from people in the Renovo area, Clinton County recently becoming part of his 25th district. “He’s willing to listen and communicate with his constituents.”

He said Scarnati reads his email nightly and pays attention to constituent concerns and does not seek a lot of attention. “He’s not a king..he works behind the scenes,” Dillon said. He added that he hopes to attend Renovo CTA meetings again for more information on Renovo area concerns.

County commissioners Jeff Snyder, Pete Smeltz and Joel Long responded to questions regarding blighted properties and the District Court office in the Renovo area.
Questions were raised about the issue of blighted properties in Renovo and the borough’s responsibilities regarding such properties.

“Municipalities must see that properties are taken care of to protect the safety of its residents,” Snyder said. The municipality is responsible to have appropriate codes in place. The municipality must also provide code enforcement, and must have to will to enforce the codes.

Renovo councilwoman Pattie Rauch said the borough has met with an inspector from Code Inspections, Inc. of Linden.

Snyder said the ribbon cutting date for the new District Magistrate office at Ninth Street and Erie Avenue in Renovo may be announced next month. Snyder has been reluctant to give a finish date for the office in recent months, mostly because earlier predictions didn’t pan out.

The CTA voted to keep the same officers for another year. They are: Ernie Peterson, chairman; Tim Horner, Chairman of the Operating Committee; Wayne Short, secretary and Gary Gregory, treasurer.
