North Bend Post Office Under Review

by Barbara Mastriania

CHAPMAN TWP. – Chapman Township residents have received a letter and customer survey form from the U.S. Postal Service informing them that the North Bend Post Office was among post offices evaluated in a survey under a review process known as the POST plan. The results of the survey will help determine “the best course of action” for providing postal services to North Bend customers.

The “course of action” under consideration is reducing window service to four hours Mondays through Fridays. Current Saturday window hours and access to delivery receptacles would remain the same.

The postal service will hold a meeting July 23 at 5 p.m. at the PA Flaming Foliage Visitor’s Center (1200 Huron Ave., Renovo) to answer questions, provide the survey results and information regarding the changes.

After receiving the results of the survey the postal service will examine the responses and unless more than 60 percent of the responses prefer the service to conduct a discontinuance study, the post office window service in North Bend will four hours daily on weekdays.

A final decision will not be made regarding the North Bend office until after the public meeting.
