George W. Schrock, Jr.

George W. Schrock, Jr., 98, of Spring Run Rd., Lamar, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019. 

Born April 19, 1920 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late George and Romaine (Eberhart) Schrock.

George was a 1938 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He earned his BS degree from Lock Haven State College in 1943. 

Mr. Schrock was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Navy.

He was married December 28, 1943 to Toni Kilsdonk, who passed away March 6, 1995. 

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Fuge of Lamar and Diane (Arlis) Poindexter of Clemmons, NC; and three grandchildren, Robert (Christina) Fuge of Lamar and Dan and Julie Poindexter, both of Clemmons, NC. 

He was preceded in death by a brother, James; two sisters, Eleanor June Schrock and Dorothy Lentz; a son-in-law, Keith Fuge; and a grandson, Brian Fuge.

Mr. Schrock was employed by Keystone Central School District, retiring in June 1979 after 25 years of teaching and 11 years in administration. He served as the Federal Coordinator for the school district until he retired. From 1948 until 1967, he was Recreation Director for the school district and city of Lock Haven. 

George and his wife Toni were very active in the Western Square Dance movement in the Lock Haven area in the 60’s and 70’s. He taught Ballroom Dancing and was a life member of the Anthers Dance Club in Williamsport. He built and operated the “Hill View Tennis Club” in Flemington. He, his wife and friends enjoyed many hours of social tennis. He enjoyed gardening, raising strawberries and tomatoes and growing flowers.

For a number of years he served as a volunteer at Lock Haven University, working as a Research Analyst, contacting and talking to university graduates.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ross Library.
