Milton Works Up 44-30 win over Lady Wildcats
MILTON – The Central Mountain girls’ basketball team traveled to Milton Thursday for another PHAC contest and came home with a 44-30 loss.
The Lady Black Panthers jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the first quarter but could only edge the Lady Wildcats 5-4 in the second period to hold a 19-12 advantage at the intermission.
In the third quarter the Lady ‘Cats continued to struggle offensively falling behind their hosts, 16-6, trailing 35-18 after three periods of play.
In the fourth quarter, CM finally began to find their range but had too much ground to cover as they outpaced Milton, 12-9 to set the final score at 44-30 in favor of the Panthers.
Avery Baker led the Lady Wildcats with 3 baskets from downtown, 2 in the fourth quarter for 9 points while Quinlynn McCann scored 8 points. Morgan Wetzel picked up 5 points with Katie Burrows adding 4 points. Summer Flanagan and Alyssa Fisher had 2 points each.
