One-Hitter for Heverly

leg-ba-logo2BEECH CREEK—Outstanding pitching continues to be the storyline at the Beech Creek American Legion Field.
Monday evening it was Kenny Heverly’s turn. The soon-to-be Central Mountain senior tossed a one-hitter at Clearfield and the Beech Creek American Legion team came away a 1-0 winner.

The game’s only run came in the bottom of the first; Trapper Kunes doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch. Kunes was able to score when Cole Hanley, on a steal attempt, got caught in a rundown between first and second.

Heverly was dominant throughout, striking out 15 in a route-going performance. Beech Creek meanwhile put up eight hits, including two singles from Toner Corl and Kunes’ double.
The Crickets are now 7-2 in league play and 10-3 overall after a 3-and-1 performance in a tourney in West Virginia over the weekend.
They will be at home Tuesday hosting Bellefonte.
