Snyder Announces Candidacy Plans


LOCK HAVEN – Two-term Clinton County Commissioner Jeff Snyder announced this week he will seek a third term in the commissioners’ office. Snyder becomes the first to announce for the county post this year. Fellow Republican commissioner/board chairman Pete Smeltz had announced recently he would not seek re-election for another term.

The formal Snyder candidacy announcement:

“Clinton County Commissioner Jeff Snyder has announced that he is seeking the Republican nomination for a third term as Commissioner in the May 21 primary.

Snyder currently serves as Chairman of the Clinton/Lycoming County STEP Board, Chairman of the SEDA-Cog Board, Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee, Chairman of the Susque-View Home Board of Trustees, and first vice-president of the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania. He also serves as a member of the Central Counties Youth Detention Center Board, the Clinton County Children and Youth Committee, the Clinton County Recreation Authority, the Victim Witness Board, the Clinton County Fire Chiefs Association, the Board of Assessment Appeals, the Advocates for a Drug Free Tomorrow, and the Safety Committee.

Snyder is a member of Saint Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington.

Snyder is currently President of Lock Haven Kiwanis Club. He is also a member of Lock Haven Elks Lodge #182, Lock Haven Moose Lodge #100, La Fayette Lodge #0199, and is a life member of the Woolrich Volunteer Fire Company.

Snyder has been a resident of Clinton County since 1962. He graduated from L.H.H.S. in 1974 and L.H.U. in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He previously owned and operated the Chatham Run Feed Mill for 33 years and served on the Keystone Central School Board for 20 years.

Snyder resides in Woolrich with his wife Toni, who is a retired teacher with the K.C.S.D. They have two children and four grandchildren.”
