Toot! Toot! Clinton Central Model Railroad Club Open House Continues through Saturday

CASTANEA – Children and adults of all ages have been pouring through the Clinton Central Model Railroad Club open house at the old New York Central Railroad Station along Logan Avenue in Castanea.

The free shows have been running since late November. The final December showing will continue through 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29. Future open houses will be held on Jan. 8, 12 and 26 and Feb. 9.

Railroad Club official Jim Hill said the club located in the old train station 30 years ago and members spent the first two years restoring the freight portion of the building to house the mammoth model train layout. It features 2,300 feet of track with diesel and steam-sound equipped locomotives and major layout upgrades. He said the holidays will see hundreds and hundreds of visitors make the trek to the old train station dating to the early 1880s.
