Wildcats fall to Shamokin 76-63 on the Road

COAL TOWNSHIP – It was another tough night on the road for the Wildcats as they fell to the Indians 76-63 in a key PHAC contest.

Shamokin only had a 21-19 lead after the first 8 minutes, then stretched margin in the second quarter for a 38-31 lead at the half. The Indians added to their lead in the third quarter outpacing the ‘Cats 20-14 for a 41-33 advantage.

Central Mountain kept pace with Shamokin in the fourth quarter 18-all but the Indians prevailed with their work in the early going.

“We finally started to see what we could do with pace, said CM head coach, Tyler Bardo, “We are going to need to find some answers defensively in the half court.”

“Overall, I need to do a better job of getting us situated in 3rd quarters.” Bardo shared, “We’ve had some similar issues in all three games. That’s indicative of an issue on my end. These players are playing hard and I have to guide them to be in better positions.” he explained of the second half woes the Wildcats have faced this season.

Collin Jones set the tempo for CM with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Tanner Lavelle addled 14 points for the Wildcats while Zane Probst dropped in 10 points and collect 10 boards on the night. Jake Skirtch scored 9 points with Conner Soo adding 6 poinyt, JT Pentz scoring 4 and Aiden Major and Evan Baker contributing 2 points each.

The Wildcats will have a chance to regroup before they host Mifflinburg on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018.
