“Sale Pending” for Lock Haven’s Fallon Hotel

LOCK HAVEN – A sale is pending for the Fallon Hotel on Water St. in Lock Haven. Realtor Melanie McLane of Jackson Real Estate confirmed word of the prospective sale to therecord-online on Wednesday but said she could say nothing further at this time. Sources said there could be additional information on a sale in the near future. The sale is expected to include the transfer of the Fallon’s liquor license.

The Fallon, a Water Street landmark which has fallen on hard times in the last decade or two, had been posted for sale in January of this year after the building’s heating system gave out and the final handful of tenants moved out.

The current owners are Terry and Dolores Mantle of Jersey Shore. The hotel was built in 1854, a $50,000 project funded by Queen Maria Christina of Spain, financing from proceeds from Spain’s sale of Florida to the United States. According to courthouse records, the Mantles purchased the Fallon in 1997 from Charles and Hazel Stevenson for $104,000. The asking price as of January of this year was $275,000. The sale has been listed “as is.”
