Lady Wildcats Fall Short Against Mifflin County
MILL HALL – The Central Mountain Lady Wildcats returned from winter break on Monday, Dec. 30, hosting the Mifflin County Lady Huskies in a thrilling battle. Despite their efforts to overcome a persistent deficit, the Wildcats fell just short, losing 53-49. The loss moves Central Mountain to 2-4 on the season, while Mifflin County improves to 4-5.
Foul trouble became a deciding factor late in the game for both teams, as players on each side battled through tough defensive pressure. Mifflin County managed to stretch their lead to double digits several times, but Central Mountain refused to back down, repeatedly closing the gap with key scoring runs. Unfortunately for the Lady Wildcats, time was not on their side as the Huskies secured the victory.
Central Mountain had a balanced scoring effort, led by Camdyn Weaver with 11 points, followed closely by Lena Walker and Ava Doyle, who each scored 10 points. Taylor Doyle contributed 8 points, while Jacey Tripp added 4. Macy Plowman and Elise McKean each chipped in with 3 points, helping the Wildcats stay competitive throughout the game.
Mifflin County relied on Payton Weaver and Mackenzie Peachey to carry the load. Weaver led her team with 15 points, while Peachey added 12 in a strong showing for the visitors.
The Lady Wildcats will look to bounce back on Friday, Jan. 3, when they host Danville in another key matchup.
