Late CM Rally Not Enough to Fend off West Branch
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – After several delays and postponements, the Lady Wildcat volleyball team were finally able to host their first home match of the season. Unfortunately, their opponent was more than up to the task with visiting West Branch sweeping the host in straight games for a 3-0 win.
The Lady Warriors rolled up a quick 25-17 win in the first game but Central Mountain would rally strong in the second game to push West Branch to the wire, falling 25-21 in a competitive match. Highlighting the effort of the Lady ‘Cats was a long volley punctuated by key digs from Abigail Brinker and Madison Knepp, a solid block from Loni Duck and a point winning kill shot from Jenni Skow.
In the third game, West Branch started to pull away from CM, holding a strong 23-11 lead when Central Mountain earned a side out and went on an 7 point run on the service of Taylor Kinley. Eventually, West Branch regrouped and earned the two points they needed to end the game with a 25-18 advantage.
The Lady Wildcats will travel to Hollidaysburg tomorrow, Sept. 18, 2018 for a key District 6 match with Hollidaysburg.
