Nothing to do in Renovo area?
Are you kidding me? …

Have you heard anyone saying lately that there’s nothing to do in Renovo and nearby communities? If not, I’m not surprised. Among the myriad of events coming up this summer is the annual Flag Day observation, an appearance of the Lindy Sisters in concert in Renovo, the annual snake hunt at Cross Fork, the annual Music Fest weekend at Cross Fork, the Cruise for Cancer ATV event in Renovo, just to name a few.

Community Flag Day Planned

Community residents are reminded that local veterans’ groups, the Renovo Area Community Choir, area scouting groups and others are planning an inspirational Flag Day ceremony for Saturday, June 14. Wayne Stoltz, Commandant of Bucktail Detachment 856 of the Marine Corps League is working with the Western Clinton County veterans groups to organize an event that hopefully, area residents will attend.

According to americashistory.gov on May 30, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation establishing a national Flag Day on June 14… The day commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States.

We honor the flag, respectfully called “Old Glory” because it is a symbol of our independence.

The 6 p.m. Flag Day celebration will be held at Flaming Foliage lot in Renovo and includes a flag burning ceremony and presentation of the Colors ceremony.
Resident’s who have used or tattered flags that need disposed of can leave them in the red mailbox at North Bend Bed & Breakfast located across Renovo Road from Tripp’s Six Pack in North Bend.

Lindy Sisters coming to Renovo …

Renovo Women’s Club is presenting a “Swingin’ 40’s and 50’s” music concert featuring the Lindy Sisters on Wednesday, June 18 at the United Methodist Church Street on 7th Street from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The concert is free (donations will be accepted) and refreshments will be served.

The Lindy Sisters, Lynette, Loralie and Linda Lou are a popular specialty act in the Los Angeles area. In recent years, in addition to many other venues, they have become a favorite part of the Sentimental Journey entertainment in Lock Haven. The Women’s Club is hoping the public will come out and enjoy the talented and much acclaimed Lindy Sisters.

Rumor has it …

Rumor has it that Joe Desmond, noted Penn State fan and avid needle point enthusiast is curious wondering if someone in the Renovo area knows what the number 54,808 means.

Rumor has it that a huge bear was sighted recently in West Renovo in Gary and Ann Gregory’s yard shortly after Gary filled a bird feeder.

Rumor has it that Uncle Sam, while in Renovo on Memorial Day was having a bit of a problem with his beard.

Rumor has it that avid fisherman Matt Linberg while fishing recently caught a fish with three tales. We’re wondering if there’s a something fishy in this tale.

Rumor has it that two horses were meandering around the Cross Fork area Monday. The horses, we’re told, didn’t cause all that much concern because they’re known by most Cross Fork residents.
