County Fair Up and Running; Register 2018 Queen

MACKEYVILLE – Sunday night was a night of recognition at the Clinton County Fair. A formal opening ceremony was held and a new fair queen selected.

McCartney Register, daughter of Joel and Terry Register and sister of 2012 Clinton County Fair Queen Brennan Register, is the 2018 Clinton County Fair Queen. Register was crowned from a field of five contestants following opening ceremonies for the 46th annual fair.

2018 “Friend of the Fair” Shirley Casses was honored by Fair Board President Phil Courter for her service to the fair.

Longtime fair volunteer Shirley Casses was recognized with the “Friend of the Fair” award for what Fair Board President Phil Courter described as nearly two decades of volunteerism in a number of areas, from selling chances, to taking an active role in organizing the Fair Queen contest.

Another longtime volunteer, Connie Peiffer, was also recognized for her many years of volunteerism; she recently turned over the reins as Queens Contest coordinator to 2013 Fair Queen Keri Bechdel,
