Irene E. Severino – Obituary
Irene E. Severino, 87, of Lock Haven passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Lock Haven Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born August 24, 1926 in born in Bitumen the daughter of the late Edmund and Levona (Seyler) Gregory. She was the oldest of 8 children. She attended Westport Elementary School and graduated from Renovo High School .
She was employed by Piper Aircraft as a skilled welder, Sylvania as a tester and inspector, Winner Packing Plant. She then was recruited by Head Start as a bus driver, because of having a large station wagon. She then furthered her education to become a parent coordinator, recruiting children for The Head Start Program. Before retiring, after 29 years of dedicated service from the Head Start Program. As she looked back on those years she said she has touched the lives of over 3,500 area families and they touched hers . After retirement she housed foreign language students and athletes from all over the world attending Lock Haven University.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Parish Church, a long time member of Alpine Star Lodge No 1827, as well as Son’s of Italy Social Hall.
She is survived by 4 sons and 2 daughters, Peter F Severino, Dayton OH, Terry D Severino Loganton, Mary Frances Severino ( Carroll) Mill Hall, Gerard Severino (Kristy) Bellefonte, Tina M Geyer Mill Hall and Gregory Severino (Eve) Blanchard. She was also with 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, one step-grandchild and one step-greatgrandchild.
Her only surviving sibling is her baby brother, Gary Gregory of Renovo.
Preceded in by Sisters Evelyn Gregory Rickert, Janice Gregory, brothers, Eddy, Bobby, Terry , James Gregory, Joann Severino and her favorite son in law Doyle D Geyer.
Memorial contribution may be made to the Lycoming-Clinton Head Start Step, Inc., 2138 Boyd St., Willaimsport, PA 17701.
A public viewing will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall.
A private burial will be held in North Bend Cemetery.
